Ep 84: California autobahns for AVs; a new way to deploy AVs; Elon Musk’s claim for full self driving this year

A new proposal for adding autobahn-type lanes to California freeways could be the ticket to fast track AVs and EVs; are we going about AV deployment all wrong; and, we discuss Elon Musk’s bold claim that Tesla will be “feature complete full self driving” by the end of 2019, and that you’ll be able to go to sleep and wake up at your destination by end of 2020.

A new proposal to build derestricted speed zones — basically autobahn — on freeways between LA and Stockton is a recipe for disaster for American roads; but it might just work to help fast track AVs (and EVs).

A better way to deploy AVs

Treat geo-fenced restrictions as liberation not limitation, and build dedicated AV-only roads everywhere the way we have bike lanes and overhead electric buses.
